Varnasrama - an essential subject

It is essential that society be divided into four groups of men-brāhmaṇas, kṣatriyas, vaiśyas and śūdras. This is called varnashram. We have different classes of men, and these classes of men act in their specific natures which can be classified under these four groups. The essence of establishing this Varnasrama is, everyone works according to their nature. A brāhmaṇa must always be engaged in religious activities for the benefit of the society, a kṣatriya must be ready to protect the society, the vaiśyas who are the working class must provide the society with food and basic needs and finally the sudra should be engaged serving everyone.

Srila Prabhupada's books, lectures, conversations and letters offer a comprehensive presentation of this essential subject as seen in the Vaniquotes Varnasrama category. An introduction from his books is given below in the following 8 quotes.
