Vanipedia — the essence of Vedic knowledge

Welcome to Vanipedia version 0.1!

The encyclopedia of His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupāda's teachings

Launched on the 21st of March 2008, the most auspicious day of Lord Caitanya's appearance, Śrī Gaura Purnima, Vanipedia version 0.1 is a simple introduction to the vision of the Vanipedia project. The secret for the project's full success will be the devotional and technical input of many committed and talented persons, collaborating from all over the world.

Most of you will probably be familiar with the concept of online collaboration from Wikipedia, and when our organizational structure is properly set up (Summer time is needed for this), we will invite you to help us make Vanipedia a wonderful offering to Srila Prabhupāda.

What is available now?

Vanipedia - Portal into the teachingsVanisource - Complete teachingsVaniquotes - CompilationsVanibooks - CompendiumsVaniversity - Educational coursesVanimedia - Audio, images and videoVanictionary - Dictionary, index and quick reference

Vanisource

In Vanisource you can read Śrīla Prabhupāda's teachings in the form of:

  • All the books, lectures, letters and conversations

Vaniquotes

In Vaniquotes we are comprehensively compiling the subjects found in Śrīla Prabhupāda's teachings. You can read some of the sample pages and browse through the categories to get a feeling for how this is developing.

The other petals

At the moment, Vanisource and Vaniquotes are the only "petals" we have populated with content. Here is a short introduction to the others:

Vanimedia will contain Srila Prabhupāda's audio, images and video; Vanictionary will complement Vanisource with a Sanskrit and Bengali dictionary, glossary, and personality descriptions; Vanibooks will be compendiums for easy reading on particular subjects, containing links to Vaniquotes for in-depth study; and Vaniversity is our educational petal. Oh, yes - and Vanipedia itself will be the portal to guide you to all the varieties of content in the different petals.

Feel free to click around to see how things look and feel, read the books and quotes, and we certainly appreciate your feedback here!

Further information

You can find more information on each of the petal's pages, or you can read about the whole Vanipedia project here. You can look at our Frequently Asked Questions. If a specific question is not covered, please feel free to ask us here.

May Śrīla Prabhupāda's association inspire you unlimitedly!
Your aspiring servants at Vanipedia.
