Content articles

Fully written articles

• Encyclopedic
  • Basic educational articles covering single, straightforward subjects
  • May fall within a full range of subject matters - philosophy, history, personalities, processes...

• Topics(?)
  • More complex issues and compound subjects
  • Should simply present Prabhupada as thoroughly as possible, and not an author's personal thesis or a selected perspective

Authors of written articles analyze the source material, organize and synthesize it for presentation so as to provide an immediate summary while simultaneously gives readers a taste of Prabhupada's mood and approach as well as a taste for further study of the source material. These are the most rhetorically developed, aesthetically pleasing and 'predigested' of the article options, suitable for the non-devotee public.

Reference articles

• Thematic compilations
  • Via media between Vaniquotes and written articles
  • Structured upon specific themes or messages, presented in the form of headings followed by quotes and additional references
  • May select which quotes to show - however, references in total should be as complete as possible
  • Lead readers to Prabhupada with some prior orientation and analysis but little rhetorical development and synthesis

• Reference-only
  • Similar to second half of written article (no text, just reference links)
  • Could be precursor to future written article
  • May include author's notes (e.g. "Prabhupada cites this frequently in connection with...")
  • Should be broken into sections
  • Lead readers directly to Prabhupada with some orientation and little information up front

• Study guides
  • Next level of complexity up from Vaniquotes (e.g. "where to find Lord Caitanya's discussion of...")
  • Direction back to Vaniquotes categories for those already developed

Creation and Development

  • Still requires user account and editorial rights

All material would be open for future contribution and editing. However, guidelines for contacting previous developers of written and compilation articles would need to be in place to facilitate collaboration (rather than chaos).

These could be used as the most general level of tag for articles. Or they could serve as a category, equivalent to the umbrella categories in Vaniquotes, with the tagging function taking place at a lower level in the tree structure.
