Task Overview for Vanipedia

Introduction

This document presents ongoing tasks being performed in the Vanipedia project. The aim of this document is to inform the existing vaniservants of the projects in progess or ones that are waiting to begin shortly. As our existing team of vaniservants is not enough to accomplish all these tasks it is hoped that this document, clearly written, will stimulate more devotees to offer their talents to realize these different projects. This document is also here to faciliate the IT team to grow in order to execute the various initiatives to serve the needs of the whole project.

It is a collaborative document and can be updated by specific Vaniservants.

IT Development

Server Upgrading

The version for the vanipetals are as follows.

• Vanipedia 1.19.1
• Vanisource 1.15.1
• Vaniquotes 1.15.1
• Vanimedia 1.12.0

Activities scheduled

1. Upgrade Media wiki to the latest version

The following steps are to be performed

• Setup up all the vanipetals on a staging environment.

We are currently setting up the petals one by one on a staging environment for users to test

• Users test the staging environment to report issues in it. All upgrade issues are noted down here.
• After the previous step is completed successfully, we launch a new production server. Move the application to the new environment and the application goes live in the new environment.

2. Moving to a new cloud hosting platform, with a newer architecture

• Evaluate cloud providers
• Choose an appropriate provider
• Deploy the application with the new provider

Build the Vanistore

• Vanistore will be filled primarly with all of Srila Prabhupada's teachings and the past Acaryas.
• Suggested items:

• All Vani... Badges; Tee-shirts; Baseball caps; Embroidered bead-bags; Pens; Mousemats; more ideas? .....
• Selection of framed quotes with sound chip inside with the SP audio clip that plays on touch (runs on a solar cell)
• Some items could be offered as prizes in recognition of exceptional Vaniseva

These can be written for websites, blogs, forums etc

Maintaining Facebook Presence

The Facebook open group needs us to post nectar pages from Vaniquotes 3 - 4 times a week. It would be nice if anyone using Facebook would check this group regularly and post their favorite pages.

Communicating with the Voice

Talking to people about the Prabhupada Vani Vision and the Vanipedia project is one of the most powerful ways to communicate. It is also very personally envigorating.

Printed Materials

Our PDF explainng the Prabhupada Vani Vision and the Vanipedia Project was very successful.

ISKCON LEADERSHIP SANGA - 2014

Vanipedia will have a stand during the 2014 Mayapura Festivities. We have to organise the maning of it, and the activities within it.

Build a Translating Team

The Multi-language subtitle is helping to build up translation teams.

We do not have a process for building a writing team yet. Needs work.

Updating

Lectures, Conversations and Letters

Vanisource Lectures,Vanisource Conversations and Vanisource Letters have not been updated since it was created in 2007. There have been both corrections found and more content added in these sections in VedaBase which is our source material. The version of VedaBase we used was 2003, and now there has been an upgrade in 2011 and 2012.

Books

There are editorial errors that have been corrected in the upgrades of VedaBase that need to be added to Vanisource.

Adding New Content

We still have not placed all of the content into Vanisource that we orginally planned to do.
