Prabhupada Memories

Interview 01

Dhanistha: At the end of one of the darshans, I asked a question I didn’t know I was going to ask. All of a sudden my hand was up and Prabhupada pointed to me. A few other God-sisters and I took turns cleaning Prabhupada’s rooms when he was on his morning walk. It was precious to touch his clothing and to feel his vibrational presence. I had gone on book distribution every day for several months and that was another kind of connection with Prabhupada. His presence was just as strong and vibrant in the airport or wherever, but cleaning his rooms was a special sweetness, a personal touch. So my question was, “Prabhupada, you’re leaving soon. How do we get more personal association with you?” That personal intimacy was nourishing and strengthening. He said, “Distribute my books.” The reason I wanted more of his personal association was so I could have the strength to distribute his books. Bhakta das, the temple president, said, “Prabhupada, that’s what she does. Every day she distributes your books.” Prabhupada said, “That is very nice.” In my heart his words were complete confirmation for me to continue.
