"આત્મા શાશ્વત છે, ન હન્યતે હન્યમાને શરીરે:(ભ.ગી. ૨.૨૦) 'આ દેહના નાશ પછી પણ, ચેતનાનો નાશ થતો નથી'. તે જારી રહે છે. વધુ સાચું કહીએ તો, બીજા દેહમાં ચેતના સ્થાનાંતરિત થયા પછી મને ફરીથી જીવનની ભૌતિક ધારણામાં જીવિત કરે છે. તે પણ ભગવદ્ ગીતામાં વર્ણિત છે, યમ યમ વાપી સ્મરણ ભાવ ત્યજતી અંતે કલેવરમ (ભ.ગી. ૮.૬). મૃત્યુના સમયે, જો આપણી ચેતના શુદ્ધ હશે, તો આપણું આગળનું જીવન ભૌતિક નથી, આગળનું જીવન શુદ્ધ આધ્યાત્મિક જીવન હશે. પણ જો મૃત્યુના સમયે આપણી ચેતના શુદ્ધ નથી, તો ફરીથી આપણે આ ભૌતિક દેહ લેવો પડશે. પ્રકૃતિના નિયમથી ચાલી રહેલી આ પદ્ધતિ છે."
