An Introduction to the Prabhupada-vani vision and the Vanipedia project Gaura Purnima 2013

This overview document is titled An Introduction to the Prabhupada-vani vision and the Vanipedia project Gaura Purnima 2013. It was created by myself and the inspired participation of Mayapur prabhu. Mayapur offered a great sacrifice for one month to help produce it. He did the entire layout and contributed wonderfully in the development of the concept and the delivery of the content within the document. He works nights in the centre of London (no easy job) and above this has spent, for the whole month, an extra 4 hours daily creating this presentation.

However I think you will all consider that his voluntary vaniseva has been well worth it. The presentation has in my opinion – and other devotees who have read it – come out very beautifully, and with a clear and inspiring message.

This document was written over the period of one month in January 2013. Even though it is a couple of years old the majority of the presentation is revealing timeless principles so please do consider reading it. For those of you who want to understand what Vanipedia is trying to achieve, this document goes a long way to answer your queries.

The reason why this document was produced is both specific and general.

  • Specific – to present to the GBC Srila Prabhupada Position Committee at their strategic meetings that were held in Sridhama Mayapura in March 2013.
  • In General – as a document to share with all of the leadership of ISKCON and all devotees who are interested in the subject of Srila Prabhupada's vani.

One goal of this document is to stimulate discussions that hopefully lead to various active participation from Srila Prabhupada’s appointed assistants (who in-turn inspire other devotees) towards collaborating expertly and enthusiastically to build a comprehensive multi-language encyclopedia of Srila Prabhupada’s teachings. It is our strong belief that by doing so we will finally be able to stabilize and solidify the house that Srila Prabhupada has built, as his teachings are simultaneously the roof and foundation (ashrayas) that protects this house to give shelter to all those who live in it. We present a totally dynamic strategy to achieve many things at the same time.

Notes about this presentation

  1. is it deep? – yes it is
  2. is it long? – a little long
  3. will it challenge me? – yes, but only in a good way
  4. will it give me the framework to grow and mature? – no doubts on that
  5. should I be attentive as I read? – yes, that will help
  6. will it inspire me to study Srila Prabhupada’s teachings more devotedly – yes it will
  7. will it help me to continue developing my personal relationship with Srila Prabhupada? – if that is what you want, then it most surely will
  8. will it give me hope that the Krsna consciousness movement has a future? – indeed it will
  9. will it show me a way to be nicely engaged? – very possible
  10. and will my faith be more nurtured in realizing that Krsna consciousness is truly the only thing that will completely satisfy me? – now you are talking!!!!!

Please take the time to read the document (or the shorter version to start with if you don't have much time) and if you feel inspired, then please tell us the strengths and weaknesses that you find within the presentation. We will then be able to build on the strengths and improve on the weaknesses.

Jaya to Srila Prabhupada’s pure Krsna conscious vani, and jaya to the continuation of the unfolding of his vani-mission to build his Vani-Temple.

If any of you want to share this document to be experienced by others, then you most surely are encouraged to do so. My love and appreciation to you all for your dedication to Srila Prabhupada’s mission.

your servant Visnu Murti dasa
