Lomasha Rishi das Remembers Srila Prabhupada

Prabhupada Memories

Interview 01

Lomasha Rishi: I was invited into Srila Prabhupada’s room to massage him during his final days. He was lying in a bed with a very high headboard and I actually had to stand on my tip-toes to reach over the headboard to get to Srila Prabhupada’s head. It was a little bit uncomfortable because the headboard was hitting me in the armpits but I didn’t care about that discomfort, as I was about to massage the head of a pure devotee. As I was massaging Srila Prabhupada’s head, I suddenly got a jolt of Shakti. It was like one of those cartoons where the cat gets it’s tail stuck in a socket and there’s a skeleton. It was some kind of powerful energetic jolt that ran through me but the next moment Srila Prabhupada moved lightning fast like it was Bruce Lee. Both of his hands came off the bed and he grabbed my wrists with a very, beyond firm, strong vise like grip. He pulled my hands up and down on his head and then his hands went back to the bed. I perceived immediately three communications in that movement. First of all, “You got that shakti connection that you were seeking but work now samadhi later.” Secondly, “Pay more attention to your service than to the ecstasy of executing the service.” He really wanted me to work harder and so I massaged his head with more vigor. And thirdly, I felt that this was lila. He was very strong. He was extremely powerful. His grip was firm like a strong young man and so I was able to perceive how marvelous are the pastimes of the pure devotee of the Lord.
