Pita: One afternoon many of our older godbrothers were in the room with Srila Prabhupada, and many of those who were supposed to initiate disciples after his disappearance were there. Then Prabhupada said to them, “Of my disciples, I see no one who has my qualities. If I see a group of them together, some percentage of my qualities are certainly there.” He said, “So I have some faith that this movement can go on. The test of your love for me will be shown by how well you cooperate together.”

The last time I heard Srila Prabhupada speaking was the night before his disappearance. I think it was around early evening, and we were listening to Prabhupada speak to Swarupa Damodara about life comes from life and not through a combination of chemicals. And then Srila Prabhupada said, “The scientists, they cannot understand that life is coming from life.” And then he said, “They cannot understand Bhagavad-gita. They cannot understand this verse brahma-bhutah prasannatma na socati. They cannot understand the brahma-bhuta personality, that he is experiencing happiness from within. That even though his body is completely destroyed,”…he stressed destroyed…“he is in ecstasy.” And then he said, “I am that brahma-bhuta personality.” And that is the last thing Prabhupada said.
