"'Kṛṣṇa' means God. If you have got any other name for God, you can chant that also. It is not that you have to chant 'Kṛṣṇa'. But 'Kṛṣṇa' means God. The word meaning of Kṛṣṇa means 'all-attractive'. Kṛṣṇa, from His beauty, all-attractive. From His strength, He's all-attractive. From His philosophy, He's all-attractive. From His renunciation, He's all-attractive. From His fame, He's all-attractive. Five thousand years before, Kṛṣṇa spoke this Bhagavad-gītā; still going strong. He is so famous." |

"We should try to understand how we are constituted. The Bhagavad-gītā explains our constitutional position very nicely: indriyāṇi parāṇy āhuḥ (BG 3.42). Indriyāṇi. Indriyāṇi means senses. Just like what is my material existence? I am in this world. What for? For my sense gratification. That's all. This is the first constitutional position. Every animal, every living entity, is busy for eating, sleeping and defending and mating. That means the bodily necessities, senses. First of all, the prominent factor of our existence is the senses. Therefore Bhagavad-gītā says, indriyāṇi parāṇy āhuḥ. My material existence means the sense enjoyment. That's all." |

"In the Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam it is directed, tasmād guruṁ prapadyeta (SB 11.3.21): "One should surrender to a spiritual master." Tasmād guruṁ prapadyeta jijñāsuḥ. Who will surrender? Who has become very inquisitive, "What is God?" Take for example, "What is God? What I am?" Now, unless one is very seriously inquisitive about this subject matter, there is no need of spiritual master. " |
