"Kṛṣṇa has got many names, nāmnām akāri bahudhā nija-sarva-śaktis (Śikṣāṣṭaka 2). So of all the names, two names are very important: Rāma and Kṛṣṇa. Therefore in the Hare Kṛṣṇa mantra, the Rāma and Kṛṣṇa are there, and Kṛṣṇa's potency, Hare. So in the śāstra it is said that one thousand names of Viṣṇu... There is Viṣṇu's one thousand names, viṣṇu-sahasra-nāma. If one chants Viṣṇu's name—there are thousands—that is equal to one name Rāma. And three times chanting the name of Rāma is equal to one 'Kṛṣṇa'. Therefore we should take advantage to chant Hare Kṛṣṇa. Although there are many names of Kṛṣṇa, 'Kṛṣṇa' is the chief name, mukha, and Lord Caitanya chanted Hare Kṛṣṇa, Hare Kṛṣṇa, Kṛṣṇa Kṛṣṇa, Hare Hare/ Hare Rāma, Hare Rāma, Rāma Rāma, Hare Hare." |

"Out of 8,400,000 different forms of life, we civilized human beings are very few. But others, their number is very great. Just like in the water: jalajā nava-lakṣāṇi (Padma Purāṇa). There are 900,000 species of life within the water. Sthāvarā lakṣa-viṁśati: and 2,000,000 different forms of life in the vegetable kingdom, plants and trees. Jalajā nava-lakṣāṇi sthāvarā lakṣa-viṁśati, kṛmayo rudra-saṅkhyayaḥ: and the insects, they are 110,000's different species of form. Kṛmayo rudra-saṅkhyayaḥ pakṣīṇāṁ daśa-lakṣaṇam: and birds, they are 1,000,000 species of forms. Then beasts, paśavas triṁśa-lakṣāṇi, 3,000,000 types of animals, four-legged. And catur-lakṣāṇi mānuṣaḥ, and the human being, the forms are 400,000." |

Prabhupāda: "According to karma, there are different species of forms of life, but they have got all facilities to live. That is God's creation. Mayādhyakṣeṇa prakṛtiḥ sūyate sa-carācaram (BG 9.10). The direction is there, that this living entity wanted a body to swim in the sea very jubilantly, so now he has got the body of a fish. So let him live very peacefully. That is God's mercy. You take very much pleasure with that surf... What is called, in the sea? Devotee: Surfboard. Prabhupāda: Surfboard? Yes. (laughter) So if you increase your engage..., "How I shall be swimming and enjoy this sport whole day and night?" then, then Kṛṣṇa will give you the body of a fish. (laughter) Yes. He is very kind. And you will very nicely live in the sea, always swimming without any difficulty. Every life. As you increase your propensity for a certain type of activities, nature is ready immediately: 'Take this body. Why you are anxious? Take this body'. Similarly, if you become anxious to have a body like Kṛṣṇa, that is also ready. Now it is your choice." |

"There was no need of this material creation. Some rascals questioned that 'Why God has created this miserable world?' But you wanted; therefore God has given you. Ye yathā māṁ prapadyante tāṁs tathaiva bhajāmy aham (BG 4.11). Kṛṣṇa says. Kṛṣṇa is very kind. You wanted such a thing. The same example, the prison house. The prison house, government is not canvassing, 'Please, you all gentlemen and ladies, come here'. No. You are going. You are going. Similarly, this material world is created for you because you wanted it. And here you cannot expect..., as you cannot expect in the prison house to live very comfortably... Because after all, it is prison house. There must be tribulation so that you may not come again." |
