Nectar Drops from Srila Prabhupada
"Ordinary persons, they go to the holy places of pilgrimage, and they leave their sinful activities there in the holy place. That is the purpose of going to the holy place, that "During the whole life, whatever sinful activities I have done, now I leave it here, and I become purified." That's a fact. One becomes purified. But the ordinary man, he does not know how to keep purified life. Therefore again comes back home and again commits the sinful activities. And sometimes again he may go... Just like in your, the Christian church, they go to the church weekly, and they, what is called, atone, atonement. So this kind of business is not very good. Once purified, you remain purified. So when the holy places of pilgrimage become piled up with all the sinful reaction of common man, a saintly person when he goes there, he makes the holy place clean."

Nectar Drops from Srila Prabhupada
"Suppose I have come here in Switzerland. If I remain here for one month and I claim, 'Oh, this is mine', what is this? So similarly, I come as guest. Everyone comes as guest in the womb of his mother and lives here for fifty years. He is claiming, 'It is mine'. When..., when..., when it became yours? The land was long, long time before your birth. How it became yours? But they have no sense. 'It is mine.' 'Fight.' 'My land.' 'My nation.' 'My family.' 'My society.' In this way, wasting time."

Nectar Drops from Srila Prabhupada
Guru-gaurāṅga: If the people here are so sinful, how is it that they have so many nice facilities? It will go away soon, very soon.

Prabhupāda: Yes. Yes. As they increase their sinful activities, these facilities will be taken away. Therefore we propose that 'Everything belongs to Kṛṣṇa, and we are all sons of Kṛṣṇa. Just cooperate in Kṛṣṇa consciousness, then the whole world will be happy'. This is our proposal. Why do you think it is American, it is Swiss, it is Indian? Everything belongs to Kṛṣṇa. Let us become obedient to Kṛṣṇa, and because we are sons of Kṛṣṇa, let us enjoy the property of Kṛṣṇa. Immediately there will be happiness. I have several times said that the..., still the whole world can produce so much grains and foodstuff, ten times of the population can be fed. Ten times. In Africa, in Australia, in England, America, so much, I mean, prospect of producing food. But they will not cooperate. They will kill the animal. They will throw the grain to the sea and claim, 'It is my land. It is my property'.

"When Kṛṣṇa was present, the family members were about ten millions. This is Kṛṣṇa. Everything is wonderful. He married 16,108 wives, and each wife had ten children, and each child begot another ten children. In this way, the Yadu-kula was a very big family. So they were destroyed. There are two comments on this point, why Yadu-kula was destroyed by Kṛṣṇa plan. One comment is that if they would continue to live, then the same misconception, that a brāhmaṇa is born in the brāhmaṇa family, they would continue to speak that 'We are also gods, because we are born of God's family, Kṛṣṇa's family'."

"The position is that you must be under certain condition. That is your position. So if you become conditioned by God, that is your perfection. And if you become conditioned by māyā, that is your trouble. You must be conditioned. That is your position. You cannot be independent. And therefore, if you become naturally conditioned, then that is your happy life. Like a child, he must be conditioned. But when he is conditioned by his parents, that is his perfection of life. Your position is that you must be conditioned. Why you are thinking to be independent? That is your rascaldom. You should always know that 'I must be conditioned. That is my life'."

Nectar Drops from Srila Prabhupada
"If you have taken Kṛṣṇa as the supreme authority, and Kṛṣṇa says there is no doubt about it, then why shall I become doubtful? Why shall I disbelieve Kṛṣṇa? This is the process. Chant Hare Kṛṣṇa. Always remember Kṛṣṇa. And death may take place at any time. There is no guarantee that after so much time you'll die. At any moment, you can die. Death, there is no guarantee. But it is a guarantee that you must die. That is guaranteed. But when you will die, that is not guaranteed. Therefore we must be prepared for death at any moment. Therefore a devotee is not afraid of death. He knows that death may come at any moment."

"By the grace of Caitanya Mahāprabhu, you are trying to understand this Kṛṣṇa consciousness philosophy, and there is no difficulty. Everything is there in our Bhagavad-gītā. You simply try to understand, and make your life successful. That is our request. Don't be rascals, mūḍhas, narādhamas, māyayāpahṛta-jñānā. This education has no value, because the real knowledge, there is nothing. Real knowledge is to understand God. There is no education throughout the whole world, there is no university. So they are simply producing rascals. So my only request is that don't become rascals. You just worship here Rādhā-Kṛṣṇa. Rādhā-kṛṣṇa-praṇaya-vikṛtiḥ (CC Adi 1.5). Just try to understand Kṛṣṇa and then your life will be successful."

"Actually, they do not want God; they want māyā. Otherwise, if anyone wants God, Kṛṣṇa, there is no difficulty. Kṛṣṇa says, man-manā bhava mad-bhakto mad-yājī māṁ namaskuru (BG 18.65), mām evaiśyasi asaṁśayaḥ (BG 18.68). Four things. 'Just always think of Me' man-manā. Mad-bhaktaḥ: 'Just become My devotee'. Mad-yājī: 'Worship Me and offer your obeisances unto Me. If you do simply these four things, then you are coming back to Me without any doubt'. These four things. But they cannot do it or will not do it. Otherwise, very simple. We are thinking of something always. Simply we have to replace Kṛṣṇa. No. They'll think so many other things except Kṛṣṇa. This is the difficulty."

Lecture SB 02.01.01 - Paris
Nectar Drops from Srila Prabhupada
"If you are animal or man, as soon as you have got this material body, you must suffer. This is condition. This is material condition. Therefore our Kṛṣṇa consciousness movement is not meant for, I mean to say, mitigating the so-called sufferings of the body. When there is body, there must be suffering. So we should not be very much disturbed by the sufferings of the body, because you'll have to suffer, even though you make very nice arrangement. Just like in comparison to Europe and America. In European cities we see so many nice arrangement, living condition, big, big house, big, big road, nice cars. In comparison to India, if some Indian comes from Indian village, he'll see, 'It is heaven, so nice house, so nice building, so nice motorcars'. But do you think you are not suffering? He may think, the rascal may think that 'Here is heaven'. But those who are residing in this heaven, they know what kind of heaven it is. (laughter) So suffering must be there. Suffering must be there as soon as you get this material body."

Paramahaṁsa: It seems that the more we strive to push the Kṛṣṇa consciousness movement forward, the more māyā puts obstacles in the way to stop us.

Prabhupāda: Yes, but as soon as you become strong, naturally there will be more enemies. That is natural. Therefore last night I said, 'If there is no understanding of God, where is religion?' (chuckles) This is not religion, they're cheating. There cannot be any conception of religion without conception of God.

"On the whole, we are always mixed up with the sattva-guṇa, rajo-guṇa, tamo-guṇa. That is our material position. Therefore sometimes we come to Kṛṣṇa consciousness when we are in sattva-guṇa, again sometimes fall down when tamo-guṇa attacks, rajo-guṇa attacks. So we have to become above these guṇas. Traiguṇya-viṣayā vedā nistraiguṇyo bhavārjuna (BG 2.45). Arjuna advised... Kṛṣṇa advised him that 'You become above these three guṇas'. So how it can be done? It can be done simply by hearing about Kṛṣṇa. This is naistraiguṇyo-sthā ramante sma guṇānukathane hareḥ (SB 2.1.7). If you simply engage yourself only hearing about Kṛṣṇa, then you are nistraiguṇya. This is the process, simple, no other business. So we have given you so many books. Don't sleep. Don't waste a single moment. Of course, you have to sleep. Reduce it as much as possible. Eating, sleeping, mating and defending—reduce it."

Nectar Drops from Srila Prabhupada
"It is very difficult to the..., for the Western people to understand that body is not important thing; the soul is important thing. First of all, they do not know what is soul, and then consideration of importance. This is their position. And if one cannot understand what is soul, what he will understand about God? Soul is a minute particle of God. If one cannot understand about this minute particle, then what he'll understand of the Supreme? In the laboratory, if you can test a little sample, just like take a little sea water, analyze, you chemically test, then you can understand what is the composition of the sea water. But if you have no knowledge even a small drop of sea water, how you'll understand the sea, what... That is their position. They do not understand even the sample of spirit soul, as we are. Simply they are trying to cover it: 'There is no soul. There is no soul. Life is generated from matter,' although they cannot prove it."

"Duḥkhālayam aśāśvatam (BG 8.15). Duḥkha. Duḥkha means suffering. Ālayam. Ālayam means place. So the creator of this universe, the Supreme Lord, He is saying, 'This is a place for suffering', and it is called Mṛtyu-loka, 'for death', 'the planets for dying'. That means death is unnatural to the eternal soul. But anywhere you live within this material world, you'll die. That is material world. Either you live as a Brahmā or live as a small insect, ant, you must die. Bhūtvā bhūtvā pralīyate (BG 8.19): death, and again take birth; death, and again take birth. But these rascals, they do not know. This is natural, that's all, that one can stop this death and birth, they have no knowledge. And still, they are big, big scholars."

"Puruṣa means the enjoyer. Puruṣa. And prakṛti means enjoyed. For enjoyment two things are required: one enjoyer, and the other enjoyed. When we eat something, the eater is the enjoyer and the foodstuff is enjoyed. So here, in this material world the living entity, although by nature it is to be enjoyed, but out of ignorance the enjoyed is claiming to be enjoyer. Just like from practical example, the man and woman, the man is supposed to be the enjoyer and the woman is supposed to be the enjoyed. So enjoyed means prakṛti, or female, and enjoyer means the puruṣa, or the male. So actually, we all living entities, we are prakṛti; we are not puruṣa."

"Suppose this life I am human being; next life I may not be human being. This statement was not liked by the newspaper man. (laughing) He was told that next life you can become animal, so he has published in my name, 'The svāmī can become animal'. Also the svāmī can become also animal, the so-called svāmī, they will become animal. (laughter) So that is not wrong. But we devotee, we are not afraid of becoming animal. Our only ambition is that we become Kṛṣṇa conscious. So the animal, the cows and calves, who are Kṛṣṇa conscious... You have seen the picture of Kṛṣṇa? Yes. So better that we shall become animal of Kṛṣṇa (laughter). So there is nothing wrong. Even if we become an animal of Kṛṣṇa, that is also very worthy. That is not ordinary thing."

Nectar Drops from Srila Prabhupada
"Cintāmaṇi-prakara-sadmasu kalpa-vṛkṣa-lakṣāvṛteṣu surabhīr abhipālayantam (Bs. 5.29). Kṛṣṇa, He always tends the cows. His name is cowherd boy. To become animal of Kṛṣṇa is a great, great fortune. It is not ordinary thing. Any associate of Kṛṣṇa, either His cowherd boyfriends or calf or cow, or the Vṛndāvana trees, plants, flowers or water, they are all devotees of Kṛṣṇa. They like to serve Kṛṣṇa in different capacities. Somebody is serving Kṛṣṇa as animal. Somebody is serving Kṛṣṇa as fruits and flowers, as tree, as Yamunā water, or the beautiful cowherds men and damsels or Kṛṣṇa's father, mother, so many with Kṛṣṇa. Kṛṣṇa is not imperson. So He has got so many lovers. Kṛṣṇa also loves them. So Kṛṣṇa's another name is paśu-pāla, paśu-pāla-paṅkaja. He is maintainer of the animals."
