Repentance - an essential subject

Repentance is a word not often used in the vocabulary of modern people. Nowadays, the trend is, if it feels good, just do it, no matter the consequences. Thus people are doing all kinds of sinful activities which is dulling their conscience and they never turn to repentance in order to break this chain of sin.

But actually repentance is necessary for turning away from activities which are against the best interest of us, as pure spirit souls. Sinful activities will degrade us and instead of moving upwards we will go down to lower and lower levels of consciousness. So by genuine repentance, we will detach ourselves from this destructive pattern, turn away from sin and turn back towards the uplifting process of self-realization. Repentance attracts God to forgive our errors and positively bless us to have the strength to change that which is amiss in our life.

Srila Prabhupada's books, lectures, conversations and letters offer a comprehensive presentation of this essential subject as seen in the Vaniquotes Repentance category. An introduction from his books is given below in the following 8 quotes.
