Sanātana means 'eternal'. Any process that takes one to the eternal position (to God's residence), is known as Sanātana-dharma. Sanātana-dharma does not refer to any sectarian process of religion; it is the eternal function of the eternal living entities in relationship with the eternal Supreme Lord. Śrīpāda Rāmānujācārya has explained that sanātana means "that which has neither beginning nor end," so when one speaks of sanātana-dharma, one must accept, on the authority of Śrīpāda Rāmānujācārya, that it is so.

Srila Prabhupada's books, lectures, conversations and letters offer a comprehensive presentation of this essential subject as seen in the Vaniquotes Sanatana category. An introduction from his books is given below in the following 8 quotes.
