We must first understand that there is more to us than just this body, that we are the soul within and that there is a superior power above us known as God. Lord Kṛṣṇa (God) is the kṣetra jña, or Supersoul, of all living entities. He is the original source of all expansions of the Personality of Godhead. 'Ksetra' means field and 'jna' means one who knows. Ksetrajna thus means one who knows about his field of activities. According to the Bhagavad-gītā, the spirit soul is called kṣetrajña, the knower or tiller of the field, whereas the body and mind, the coverings of the spirit soul, are called kṣetra, or the field.

Srila Prabhupada's books, lectures, conversations and letters offer a comprehensive presentation of this essential subject as seen in the Vaniquotes Ksetra-jna category. An introduction from his books is given below in the following 8 quotes.
