Psychology, like any other science, should be applied in the service of the Lord. If not, then it is nothing but material and temporary. Psychology alone cannot save the soul from the cycle of birth and death. But when one becomes a devotee of the Krishna and starts engaging in psychological activities for Krishna, he is automatically saved from this very cycle and Krishna appears all attractive to him. Devotion to the Lord is a process in which the devotee realizes his true nature and acts on it. However, it is not a psychological state of mind. It is the eternal, spiritual, absolute truth.
