Mode of Ignorance - an essential subject
Modes of nature are a very unique and illuminating concept of Vedic philosophy which describe and explain the functioning of material nature based on three influences or forces - goodness, passion and ignorance. They permeate everywhere and affect all aspects of this material world.
The mode of ignorance is the mode of darkness. It covers the truth, paralyzes our progress and drags one down to degradation. There is no happiness and should be avoided at all costs as there is nothing beneficial for the living being.
This age, which is called the age of Kali - an age of quarrel and hypocrisy. It is a dark age when the lower modes are all pervading, but still, one can always strive to go out of darkness towards the light. And as one aphorism explains - Godhead is Light, Nescience is darkness. Where there is God, there is no nescience.
