The caste system consisting of 4 divisions of people (brāhmaṇas (priests and intellectuals), kṣatriyas (administrators and soldiers), vaiśyas (merchants and farmers) and śūdras (laborers)) was meant to promote the smooth running of society, allowing everyone to advance spiritually by the performance of their prescribed duties. However, as time passed, this system disintegrated due to the rise of corrupt rulers. Therefore, the nature of the ruling class of society (ksatriyas) is very important for progression.

Srila Prabhupada's books, lectures, conversations and letters offer a comprehensive presentation of this essential subject as seen in the Vaniquotes Ksatriyas category. An introduction from his books is given below in the following 8 quotes.
