INTRODUCTION TEXT TO BE WRITTEN
This saṁsāra, this material existence, is just like a dāvānala. Dāvānala means forest fire. In the forest nobody goes to set a fire, but it takes place automatically. To rectify our material existence, austerity (tapasya) is absolutely necessary. However, when people in general come under the control of a demon or a demoniac ruling power, they forget this process of tapasya and gradually also become demoniac. Hankering for advancement in devotional service is not the same as hankering for sense gratification in material existence. In other words, hankering remains in spiritual life, but it becomes purified.
