It is the nature of the living entity to commit mistakes. The conditioned soul is under the illusion of the material energy, and thus is bewildered about his very identity, and mistakenly identifies himself as matter. However, even the liberated souls commit mistakes under the sway of the Lord's superior energy. Srila Prabhupada mentioned that his spiritual master made a mistake by not setting up the GBC for the Gaudiya Matha in his lifetime and that he (Prabhupada) would not commit the same mistake. However, all mistakes committed by a liberated soul or even a pure devotee are mistakes of judgment. A pure devotee never wavers from his service attitude; he may fail externally in his service, but he never makes the mistake of working for his own sense gratification. The Lord alone is perfect; in fact He relishes the mistakes of His pure devotee as they make for interesting flavors in His pastimes.

Srila Prabhupada's books, lectures, conversations and letters offer a comprehensive presentation of this essential subject as seen in the Vaniquotes Mistakes category. An introduction from his books is given below in the following NUMBER quotes.
