When we believe in something strongly (e.g. a cause, religion etc.), we put in all our efforts to ensure that the task at hand goes on well. We devote our time and efforts into it, especially so if it is related to religion and we believe in the existence of God. This devotion of our time and efforts falls into the category of surrendering. Therefore, only if we have faith in something, we surrender to it and gain accordingly. If we don't, then its our loss. According to the Bhagavad-gītā, not having faith and thereby not surrendering to God results in us being entrapped in this temporary material world, while enduring constant suffering.

Srila Prabhupada's books, lectures, conversations and letters offer a comprehensive presentation of this essential subject as seen in the Vaniquotes Not Surrendered category. An introduction from his books is given below in the following 8 quotes.
