Every one of us, is fully under the control of material nature. We have put ourselves, in different bodies due to our sinful activities. There is no question of independence. Ignorantly one may not be aware how a bull is bound up by the nose by the driver, and as he pulls on the rope, the has to go according to that. Our so-called declaration of independence, "There is no God. There is no control. Whatever we like we can do," is another form of ignorance. We are not aware that God is pulling the strings. In ignorance we commit so many mistakes, and that is sinful activity. Sinful activity means to irresponsibly do anything we like. We become entrapped in those sinful activities. But as we have got experience in our ordinary life that ignorance is no excuse. Suppose a child touches fire. The fire will not excuse the child because the child has no idea of the dangers of the fire. No. It does not matter if you are a child or grown-up man, when you touch the fire it will act. There is no excuse. Similarly, knowingly or unknowingly, if we commit sinful activities, we have to be punished.
