Without Krishna consciousness any material advancement is nothing but a decoration of a dead body - and binds us to the cycle of birth and death. In order to get out of that cycle, purify ourselves and make real advancement we need to accept Krishna consciousness into our lives and engage in devotional service. Anyone who is without Krishna consciousness is simply living like an animal - mating, eating and defending. Such persons live a life with no real value.
