To qualify the Mayavadis and other common men who indulge in the mental speculative transactions, Srimad-Bhagavatam gives them instructions from the 1st to the 9th canto about the transcendental nature of the Supreme Personality of Godhead.

Lecture BG 04.19 - New York

Actually, we are not independent. If I think I am independent of Kṛṣṇa, then I am dependent on the influence of material nature. Just like, if I think that I am independent of government regulations, then I become dependent of the police force. My dependence is neither in this way or that way. So that is our mistaken. Everyone is trying to be, become independent. That is called māyā.

My plan is for preaching with your help. You arrange for everything, and I shall talk about Krishna Consciousness for any length of time, anywhere. That is my mission.

If the house is occupied by ourselves only, then it is all right. I think Giriraja is a very intelligent boy, so do everything carefully, and let me know the result. If this house can be occupied as our own, then the press department may be established in Boston immediately. If I go to New York on my way to Europe, then most probably I will stop at Boston also to see the new house. So do everything very carefully.

I have also received some photographs of your Rathayatra Day ceremony, sent to me by Sri Govinda. It appears to be very, very nice, and I am having these photographs reprinted together on one page so I may show the others how nicely you have done it. I have already told Gurudasa something of the glorious affair that was arranged here, and enclosed please find reprinted news articles from the San Francisco papers.

Yes, you are certainly right when you say Radharani cooks prasadam for Lord Krsna. Whenever He returns in the evening from herding cows with His cowherd boy friends, Radharani has a nice preparation waiting for Lord Krsna.

Woman Interviewer: How many followers have you got now throughout the world or can you not count...?
Prabhupāda: Well, for any genuine thing the followers may be very little, and any rubbish thing, the followers may be many.
Woman Interviewer: How many... I meant for the initiated followers, people who have...
Prabhupāda: About three thousand we have got.

We invite, therefore, all kinds of serious men for the welfare of the human society to understand this great movement and if possible take part in it and cooperate with us. That will solve all the problems of the world.

You have organized N.Y. very nicely; I give you all credit for this. But if you are insisting and require some change, then the best thing to do is to go to Mayapur and manage the building construction there. Tamala has written in his last letter that he has no experience in such building affairs and he wants to appoint some big contractors. That will be too expensive. We can save that amount by supervising ourselves this construction. That will be favorable for our purpose.

Forget taking sannyasa order for the time being. Unless your child is born, there is no question of taking sannyasa. We shall consider the matter further when your child is born. So now you should take care of your wife. The woman should be cared for, especially during pregnancy. At the time of the marriage ceremony there is a promise that the husband will care for the wife throughout her life and the woman will serve the husband throughout his life. When the child is grown up then the husband can take sannyasa.

If we are there so many months and we cannot do anything, simply eat and sleep and fight amongst ourselves, then where is our credit? Our credit will be when the people see our nice building rising daily, just like in Mayapur, with 100 men working day and night. That is the American style.
SP 170px 047.png

If you want to honor me, you will do like this and then I can truly be called the guru of the Americans. Otherwise, it is simply a dishonor to me.

There is a saying in Bengali, that whenever there is scandalous talk, there is something to it, so we must be careful always to avoid even what may be mistaken by others for scandalous situation. You know how the things are taken in India so be yourself very careful to always avoid these things and instruct others how to do it also.

I have handed over these copies to Mr. George Harrison who is enjoying them very much. Yesterday he has taken me to one 75-acre farm near London which he has found for our London asrama. If we take this place then I shall make London my world or European headquarters, and I am applying also for British residential status.

It appears that the working on the committee will be too much difficult for you, so it will be better if you can serve Krishna by translating into Hindi language.

That is the sannyasi business, to travel from center to center and instruct the devotees in spiritual life. That is a good program for you, to learn the books very thoroughly and practice the knowledge you are learning. Without practice of the knowledge, what good is the knowledge? But I do not think it is necessary for you to return to your university for taking further education. Your education is to be found in our books, the material education is finished.

There are Jealous Enemies of God Also. They are Called Demons - 0232
06:03 minutes from a lecture on BG 02.04-5 in London
SP 108px 005.png
vanipedia.org
The first problem was for Arjuna how to kill the kinsmen, family men. Now, when he was chastised by Kṛṣṇa as a friend that "Why you are so weak? Don't be weak. This is sentiment. This kind of compassion is sentiment. Uttiṣṭha. You better get up and fight."
We Get Krishna Consciousness
Through the Mercy of Guru and Krishna - 0233

04:39 minutes from a lecture on BG 02.04-5 in London
SP 108px 042.png
vanipedia.org
Kṛṣṇa has enemies. Arisudana. And He has to kill them. Kṛṣṇa has got two businesses: paritrāṇāya sādhūnāṁ vināśāya ca duṣkṛtam (BG 4.8). Miscreants... They are miscreants. The demons who challenge Kṛṣṇa, who want to compete with Kṛṣṇa, who want to share with the property of Kṛṣṇa, they are all enemies of Kṛṣṇa, and they should be killed. So killing business is all right here for the enemies, not ordinarily.
To Become a Devotee is the Greatest Qualification - 0234
04:53 minutes from a lecture on BG 02.04-5 in London
SP 108px conv12.png
vanipedia.org
This is Vaiṣṇava son. Prahlada did not ask anything for himself. And although he knew that his father was the greatest enemy, still, he is asking his benediction, "This poor fellow may be liberated." So Lord Nṛsiṁhadeva guaranteed, said, "My dear Prahlāda, not only your father, but your father's father, his father, up to fourteen generations, all are liberated. Because you are born in this family." So anyone who has become a Vaiṣṇava, a devotee of the Lord, he is giving the greatest service to the family.
Unqualified Guru Means
Who Does not Know How to Guide the Disciple - 0235

05:05 minutes from a lecture on BG 02.04-5 in London
SP 108px 026.png
vanipedia.org
Unqualified guru means who does not know how to guide the disciple. Guru's duty is to guide. So such kind of guru can be at least rejected. That is Jīva Gosvāmī's... Kārya-kāryam ajānataḥ. A guru who does not know what to do and what not to do, but by mistake, by mistakenly I have accepted somebody as guru, he can be rejected.
A Brahmana, a Sannyasi can Beg Alms,
but not a Ksatriya, not a Vaishya - 0236

03:56 minutes from a lecture on BG 02.04-5 in London
SP 170px 062.png
vanipedia.org
Caitanya Mahāprabhu has warned that "Those who are viṣayī, those who are not devotees, do not accept anything from them because it will make your mind unclean." So therefore a brāhmaṇa and a Vaiṣṇava, they do not accept directly money. They accept bhikṣā. Bhikṣā. Just like here it is said bhaikṣyam. Śreyo bhoktuṁ bhaikṣyam apīha loke. When you ask somebody... Still, bhikṣā is also sometimes prohibited from a person who is too much materialist. But bhikṣā is allowed for sannyāsīs, for brāhmaṇa.

Smoking is not necessary, but somebody smokes; somebody does not. How it is? It is due to association. If I mix with smokers' association, then gradually I learn how to smoke. Similarly, if I mix with devotees' association, then I become gradually devotee.

Lecture SB 01.05.24 - Vṛndāvana
SP 108px conv2.png

Nārada Muni was not restless. Cāpale. What is given there? "Proclivities." Generally, boys are attached to so many different types of playful things. This also becomes possible by association. Just like you are all young men; you have got so many desires, naturally, especially in the Western countries. But you have voluntarily given up not to go to the restaurant, not to go to the club or theater or cinema. These are good qualifications.
Lecture BG 04.13 - Vṛndāvana
SP 108px 001.png
vanipedia.org
A śūdra means he becomes disturbed. He becomes disturbed: "Oh, I have no employment. How shall I eat? Where shall I go? Where shall I live?" He has no faith in Kṛṣṇa. The brāhmaṇa has got full faith, the kṣatriya has got little less faith, the vaiśya, little less faith, and the śūdra has no faith. This is the difference.
Conversation - Vṛndāvana

By itching, by satisfying the senses, itching sensation, their troubles and miserable condition increasing. That they do not know. Increasing. Bahu means much; duḥkha means miserable condition. Therefore one who is sensible, the dhīra, one is sober, he understands, "What I am doing? I am simply trying to eat, and the disease is increasing. Therefore it must be stopped." This is called dhīra.

Nobody was crying for this edition of Bhagavata, but we are forcing, "You must read. You must take." We are printing and forcing everyone. French edition, Bhagavata's edition, they were not dying for this book, but this is our force.

Control Krishna - That is Vrndavana Life - 0191
04:29 minutes from a lecture on SB 06.01.52 in Detroit
SP 108px conv20.png
vanipedia.org
Kṛṣṇa is so bhakta-vatsala that He is the supreme controller. But a devotee like Mother Yaśodā, a devotee like Rādhārāṇī, devotees like gopīs, devotees like the cowherds boy, they can control Kṛṣṇa. That is Vṛndāvana life. So this Kṛṣṇa consciousness movement is trying to take you there. The foolish persons, they are being deviated. They do not know what is the value of this Kṛṣṇa consciousness movement.
Nectar Drops from Srila Prabhupada
"This is very secret science, that you have to clear out your path of liberation by controlling the tongue. Then other things will be controlled, the straight line: tongue, then belly, then genital. Therefore in our society we have restricted the tongue: 'Don't eat meat. Don't take intoxication'. And then, the straight line: 'No free use of the genital, illicit sex'. These things are required if you want to be free from this material entanglement. This is called tapasya. Human life is meant for tapasya, not to live like cats and dogs and hogs. That is not human life."
750805 - Lecture SB 06.01.52 - Detroit
SP 108px 026.png

When I started this movement, somehow or other, I tried to fix up the mind of these boys in Kṛṣṇa. In the beginning I never said that "You have to do this. You have to do that." But somehow or other, they are very nice boys, so they fixed up their mind in Hare Kṛṣṇa chanting. Kṛṣṇa and chanting Hare Kṛṣṇa—the same thing. Our process is to chant, kīrtanīyaḥ sadā hariḥ, chant Hare Kṛṣṇa always. Then everything will be complete.

1976 - August 05

Lecture BG 15.15 - New Mayapur
SP 108px 004.png
vanipedia.org
There are two kinds of following. You want to do something by your whims and you could not fulfill that whim in one life. So Kṛṣṇa is so kind, He gives you opportunity to fulfill that desire in this next life and gives you, "Now you wanted like this. Here is the opportunity, do it." But that is not good for you. You wanted it, so Kṛṣṇa gives you the opportunity. The best thing would be that what Kṛṣṇa says, you do that, then you'll be happy. Otherwise, you'll have to go life after life and fulfill your whims and desires.
SP 108px 029.png
vanipedia.org
Just like Kṛṣṇa wanted Arjuna to fight, and he became a nonviolent saint, "No, Kṛṣṇa, I'll not fight." That is disobedience. Kṛṣṇa says fight, you must fight. Don't bring philosophy of nonviolence. That is nonsense. What He says, do it. That is service.
Conversation A - New Mayapur
SP 108px 001.png

Not only scholar, not only scholar, he must be a realized soul. Simply scholars will not help, simply scholarship will not help. There are many Sanskrit scholars in India. There are many Sanskrit scholars, original Sanskrit scholars in India, they cannot understand Bhagavata.
Conversation B - New Mayapur
SP 108px 010.png
vanipedia.org
Liberty means whatever you like, you can do. That is liberty. But at the present moment, you cannot do that. Just like you want to go to the moon planet, you cannot do that. But when you are spiritually liberated, you can go anywhere you like.
SP 170px 058.png
vanipedia.org
In this material world there is a planet which is called Siddhaloka. The inhabitants of that planet, they go from any planet to any planet. But still, they cannot go to the spiritual world. But Nārada Muni, he can travel anywhere. He travels over all the spiritual world and material world. There is no restriction.
