Letter to Mr. Bailey written from Allahabad

You can have practical solutions of all problems such as social, religious, cultural, political, economic as well as agricultural and industrial—from the Bhagavad-gita. It is possible only simply by assimilating it by direct perception. It is meant for all living being. Indirect perception will mislead far away from the truth and I am afraid many such indirect misinterpretations in a speculative mood by various commentators, have done more harm than good to the humanity in general.

Lecture BG 07.08-14 - New York

The message of God is just like Bhagavad-gita or Bible, any, as you like. Just try to hear, san-mukharitam vartam, from realized soul. Just like the truths of Bible were spoken by Lord Jesus Christ or Krsna.
Nectar Drops from Srila Prabhupada
"When there is some illumination, that illumination is also Kṛṣṇa. The original effulgence is brahma-jyotir. That is in the spiritual sky. This material sky is covered; therefore the nature of this material sky is darkness. Now, at night we are experiencing the real nature of this material world—it is darkness. Artificially, it is being illuminated by the sun, by the moon, by the electricity. Otherwise, it is darkness. So this illumination is God."

I am a sannyāsī. I am forbidden to make any association with women. I cannot talk even with woman in a lonely place. That is forbidden. I cannot talk with a woman. I give you one practical example. When my Guru Mahārāja, my spiritual master, was living... I am speaking about fifty years before. We were all young men at that time, and one of my Godbrothers, he was also young man, Dr. O. B. Kapoor, and his wife was also young. So his wife wanted to speak with my Guru Mahārāja.

Lecture - Seattle
The Original Person is Not Dead - 0300
06:37 minutes from a general lecture in Seattle
SP 108px 008.png
vanipedia.org
This Kṛṣṇa consciousness movement means to approach the original person. The original person is not dead, because everything emanates from the original person, so everything is working very nicely. The sun is rising, the moon is rising, the seasons are changing, so..., there is night, there is day, just in the order. So the function of the body of the original person is going on nicely. How you can say that God is dead?
The Most Intelligent Persons - They are Dancing - 0301
05:56 minutes from a general lecture in Seattle
SP 170px 046.png
vanipedia.org
We are not sentimentalists, that we are simply dancing. The dancing has got great value; that, if you dance with us, you'll feel. It is not that some crazy fellows are dancing. No. The most intelligent persons, they are dancing. It is so nicely made that even a boy like here, he is a boy, he can take part. Universal. Join, chant Hare Kṛṣṇa and dance, and you'll realize.
People Are Not Inclined to Surrender - 0302
07:31 minutes from a general lecture in Seattle
SP 108px conv16.png
vanipedia.org
People are not inclined to surrender; therefore he has to learn so many things. Just like a child, he has simply a feeling of surrender to the parents, he's happy. There is no need of learning philosophy how to live very happily.
Transcendental. "You Are Beyond" - 0303
03:47 minutes from a general lecture in Seattle
SP 170px 062.png
vanipedia.org
Transcendental. "You are beyond." This is explained in Bhagavad-gītā. First of all, you realize this body. Body means the senses. But when you go further, we see the mind is the center of these sensual activities. Unless the mind is sound, we cannot act with our senses. So indriyebhyaḥ paraṁ manaḥ. So transcendental to the senses, mind is there, and transcendental to the mind, there is intelligence, and transcendental to the intelligence, there is soul. That we have to understand.
Maya Cannot Cover the Supreme Whole - 0304
03:45 minutes from a general lecture in Seattle
SP 108px lect11.png
vanipedia.org
The marginal portion being very small, it is being sometimes covered by the water. But the large portion of the land, that is without any water. Similarly, māyā can cover the minute particles of the spirit soul, but māyā cannot cover the supreme whole.
SP 108px conv12.png
vanipedia.org
Whatever you are using, you yourself also, we are all display of the energy of the Supreme Lord. We are not different from Him. But when the cloud of māyā or illusion covers my eye, we cannot see the sun. Similarly, when the material concept of life covers me, we cannot understand what is God. We say God is dead. So we have to uncover our eyes from this illusion. Then you'll see directly God: "Here is God."
We Should Submit Our Doubtful Questions - 0306
04:23 minutes from a general lecture in Seattle
SP 108px 007.png
vanipedia.org
We invite questions, if you have any question, doubt, about the statements, you can inquire. Tad viddhi praṇipātena paripraśnena sevayā (BG 4.34). Everything, if you are serious to understood, we should submit our doubtful questions and then understand.
SP 108px 020.png
vanipedia.org
You have to fix up your mind not only thinking of Kṛṣṇa, but also working for Kṛṣṇa, feeling for Kṛṣṇa. That is complete meditation. That is called samādhi. Your mind cannot go out. You have to engage your mind in such a way that the mind will think of Kṛṣṇa, feel for Kṛṣṇa, work for Kṛṣṇa. That is complete meditation.
Function of the Soul is Krishna Consciousness - 0308
06:31 minutes from a general lecture in Seattle
SP 108px 043.png
vanipedia.org
When you come to the point of understanding that "I am not this body. I am spirit soul," then the next stage will be "What is the function of the soul?" That function of soul is Kṛṣṇa consciousness, working in Kṛṣṇa consciousness. So in the present age one has to take directly to the function of the soul; then other things will automatically come.
Spiritual Master is Eternal - 0309
08:09 minutes from a general lecture in Seattle
SP 108px lect4.png
vanipedia.org
Spiritual master is eternal. So your question is without spiritual master. Without spiritual master you cannot be, at any stage of your life. You may accept this spiritual master or that spiritual master. That is a different thing. But you have to accept.
Jesus is the Representative of God, and Hari-nama is God - 0310
05:46 minutes from a general lecture in Seattle
SP 108px lect3.png
vanipedia.org
If Lord Jesus Christ says, "Through me," that means he's representative of God, and hari-nāma is God. So either through the representative of God or God, the same thing. God and God's representative, there is no difference.
We are Giving New Light - Meditation will fail. You take this - 0311
02:40 minutes from a general lecture in Seattle
SP 170px 057.png
vanipedia.org
Lord Buddha said, "Meditate," but the followers of the Lord Buddha could not. They failed. We are giving new light, that "Meditation will fail. You take this." Is that clear? Yes. If somebody has said you something, and if you are failure, then I say, "You don't do this. Take this. It will be nice."
Nectar Drops from Srila Prabhupada
"Just try to understand. A typewriting machine, a small screw, when it is missing, your machine is not working nicely. You go to a repairing shop, he charges ten dollars; you pay immediately. That little screw, when it is out of that machine, it has not a value even one farthing. Similarly, we are all part and parcel of the Supreme. If we work with the Supreme, that means if we work in Kṛṣṇa consciousness, or God consciousness, that 'I am part and parcel...' Just like this finger is working fully in consciousness of my body, whenever there is little pain I can feel. Similarly, if you dovetail yourself in Kṛṣṇa consciousness, you are living in your normal condition, your life is successful. And as soon as you are separated from Kṛṣṇa consciousness, the whole trouble is there. The whole trouble is there. So, there are many examples we cite every day in this class. So we have to accept this Kṛṣṇa consciousness if we at all want to be happy and be situated in our normal condition."

Simultaneously one and different. Just like in Bible also, Jesus Christ is claimed as one with God, but at the same time different. As son, he is different. As representative of God, he is one. That is the philosophy, perfect philosophy. All living entities, anything within this manifestation, even this whole world, is one with God.

You cannot be completely detached. If you be detachment from something, you must be attached to something. Otherwise you have no perception(?). So you should be detached from matter and attached to Krsna.

Everyone is in ignorance. That is our concern. Our propaganda is not for the East and the West, but our fight is with the ignorance of the people, because at the present moment people are kept in ignorance, in foolishness, that he is this body, bodily identification.

The opening of the Vrindaban temple has been postponed to after March, 1975, so if you like you can come to our Gaura purnima celebration at Mayapur and then to the Vrindaban festival at that time.

Morning Walk - Mauritius
Nectar Drops from Srila Prabhupada
Cyavana: They've made so much propaganda that life is meant to enjoy. Everywhere...
Prabhupāda: Enjoy, but where is your enjoyment? Come to the practical point. Where is your enjoyment? You are simply suffering. That is their rascaldom. They are suffering; still they say, 'I am enjoying'. This is called illusion, māyā. Enjoy. That we also say, that we are trying to take you to a certain place, kingdom of God or back... Where you will enjoy. Enjoy... Ānandamayo 'bhyāsāt (Vedānta-sūtra 1.1.12). That enjoy is our aim. But where is your enjoyment here? That is your rascaldom. There is no enjoyment; still you say, 'We shall enjoy.'.
Cyavana: Their propaganda leads people to think that they can enjoy, that it's possible here.
Prabhupāda: They're misleading. That is misleading. We have to check that. That is our Kṛṣṇa consciousness..., that... They are not enjoying, and these rascals misleading them that they are enjoying."

I See in Your Mauritius,
You Have Got Enough Land to Produce Food Grains - 1042

02:55 minutes from a lecture on SB 07.05.30 in Mauritius
SP 108px 038.png

I see in your this Mauritius land, you have got enough land to produce food grains. So you produce food grain. I understand that instead of growing food grains, you are growing sugarcane for exporting. Why? And you are dependent on food grains, on rice, wheat, ḍāl. Why? Why this attempt? You first of all grow your own eatables. And if there is time and if your population has got sufficient food grains, then you can try to grow other fruits and vegetables for exporting.
We Don't Drink Coca-cola. We Don't Drink Pepsi-cola. We Don't Smoke - 1043
04:05 minutes from a lecture on SB 07.05.30 in Mauritius
SP 108px lett3.png
vanipedia.org
You don't find all these things in our Society. We don't drink Coca-cola. We don't drink Pepsi-cola. We don't smoke. So many things which are selling in the market in huge quantity by advertisement, by victimizing the poor customer.
SP 170px 047.png
vanipedia.org
So we do not know subtle laws of nature, subtle laws of God, how things are happening, how things are going on. And without knowing these facts, our human life is spoiled. So the Kṛṣṇa consciousness movement is trying to convince, educate people the value of life, how the process of living conditions are going on. Not we have manufactured all this. It is received from the Vedas. Vedas means the book of knowledge. Veda means knowledge.
Interview - Mauritius
SP 170px 066.png
vanipedia.org
Let them say all nonsense. What can I say? Every nonsense will speak something nonsense. How can I check it? There are so many nonsenses; therefore we are trying to make all these nonsense into human beings. That is our program.
SP 108px conv15.png
vanipedia.org
The animal eats; we eat. The animal sleeps; we sleep. The animals have sex life; we have got sex life. The animal defends; we also defend. So if we remain engaged only on the principles of four demands of body, then we remain animal. Our extra education requires that "I am not this body; I am spirit soul." And there is necessity of the soul. If we don't come to this platform, then we remain animals. So this Kṛṣṇa consciousness movement means we are trying to bring human being to the platform of spiritual consciousness or real human being.

Woman's nature is very mild and man's nature very strong. That is the difference. Therefore according to Vedic civilization, the woman must be protected because they are very simple. They can be led to goodness also very easily, and they can be polluted also very easily. By nature, they are very simple.

So what is that false ahaṅkāra? The false ahaṅkāra is that "I am this body." This is false ahaṅkāra: "I am this body." "I am Indian," "I am American," "I am brāhmaṇa," "I am kṣatriya," "I am sannyāsī," "I am brahmacārī," and so on, so on, so on, so on. All designation of this body. This is false ahaṅkāra.

Prabhupāda: That is my concern, that such huge, huge establishment, if properly, regularly not managed, then again everything will be finished.
Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: I don't think that that's going to happen, Śrīla Prabhupāda. We're too much indebted to you to allow what you have established to go..., to become spoiled.
Prabhupāda: Please see to that.
SP 170px 062.png
vanipedia.org
Prabhupāda: In this condition, even I cannot move my body on the bed. Only chance you should give me—let me die little peacefully, without any anxiety. I have given in writing everything, whatever you wanted—my will, my executive power, everything. Disaster will happen if you cannot manage it. Hm?
Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: Yes, we do not want any disaster to happen. Our only business as your sons and servants is to maintain what you have established. Even if we don't increase it, if we just maintain it...
Prabhupāda: Yes.
