We have got responsibility. You are seeking pleasure, but you do not know how to achieve that pleasure. For achieving that pleasure, the prescription is here: tapo divyaṁ. Nectar Drops from Srila Prabhupada
"So human life is not for wasting the valuable asset simply in the manner of dogs and hogs. We have got responsibility. The soul is transmigrating from one form to another body, and this human form of body is just suitable to prepare yourself how you can enter into that transcendental platform of bliss of Rādhā-Kṛṣṇa. You are seeking pleasure, but you do not know how to achieve that pleasure. For achieving that pleasure, the prescription is here: tapo divyaṁ. 'You have to undergo certain principles of austerity, my dear sons', divyaṁ, 'for achieving the transcendental pleasure in association with the Absolute Truth'."

Lecture ISO 01 - Los Angeles
Nectar Drops from Srila Prabhupada
"Either you take birth in a very rich family, aristocratic family, or you take birth in the animal womb, so the pangs of birth, death, disease and old age will continue. So Kṛṣṇa consciousness movement means to make a solution of these four things: birth, death, old age and disease. So if we act sinfully and if we eat sinfully, then this life of birth, death, old age will continue. Otherwise, you can make a solution, and as it is stated in the Bhagavad-gītā, tyaktvā dehaṁ punar janma naiti mām eti kaunteya (BG 4.9): "After leaving this body," tyaktvā dehaṁ punar janma naiti, "he does not take birth again in this material world."

Nectar Drops from Srila Prabhupada
"We can simply eat such things which are offered to the Deity, Kṛṣṇa. That is yajña-śiṣṭāśinaḥ (BG 3.13). Even if we have committed some sin, by eating this prasādam we counteract it. Mucyante sarva-kilbiṣaiḥ. Yajña-śiṣṭa... Aśiṣṭa means the remnants of foodstuff after offering yajña. If one eats, then mucyante sarva-kilbiṣaiḥ. Because our life is sinful, so we become, I mean to say, freed from the sinful activities. How it is? That is also stated in the Bhagavad-gītā, that ahaṁ tvāṁ sarva-pāpebhyo mokṣayiṣyāmi (BG 18.66): 'If you surrender unto Me, then I'll give you protection from all sinful reaction'. So if you make it a vow that "I shall not eat anything which is not offered to Kṛṣṇa," that means it is a surrender. You surrender to Kṛṣṇa, that 'My dear Lord, I shall not eat anything which is not offered to You'. That's vow. That vow is surrender. And because there is surrender, you are protected from the sinful reaction."

Morning Walk - Los Angeles
Nectar Drops from Srila Prabhupada
Prabhupāda: Lomaśa Muni, his duration of life is that when one Brahmā dies, one hair from the body falls. So in this way, when all the hairs of his body will fall down, he'll die. He has such a great length of... So he was standing on the side of sea and chanting Hare Kṛṣṇa. So Nārada Muni approached him, 'Why don't you make a small cottage here?' He said, 'How long I shall live? (laughter) Aiye, standing will do. Let me finish my business...' Just see. And here they'll live for twenty years and making skyscraper building (makes sound:) 'tok-dong, tok-dong, tok-dong'. (laughter) Does not calculate that 'I shall live for twenty or thirty years'."

Svarūpa Dāmodara: That is not guaranteed also.

Prabhupāda: That is also not guaranteed. Why I am taking so much trouble? They are so foolish persons.
